Dr. Laura J. Funke
Dr. Laura J. Funke was basically raised in this dental office, so our patients are very near and dear to her heart. She feels that a great dentist not only excels at technique, but has the ability to genuinely make patients feel comfortable. Because of her desire to connect with patients on a personal level, she obtained a B.A. in Psychology at Wake Forest University in 2003. She then decided to continue the family tradition of dentistry, earning her D.M.D. degree from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in 2008. She has been practicing dentistry with her father Dr. James Funke ever since, and has flourished tremendously in the practice that her grandfather started almost 100 years ago. Her patients enjoy her calm, yet confident demeanor and fondly refer to her as “Dr. Laura”.

Dr. James E. Funke, affectionately known as “Dr. Jim,” grew up in West Milwaukee and has been an active part of the community all of his life. He is the past President of the West Milwaukee Rotary Club (where he became a Paul Harris Fellow) and is a current member of the West Allis/West Milwaukee Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Jim graduated from Marquette University School of Dentistry in 1974, where he received first-rate training in all aspects of general dentistry. He has been practicing dentistry for more than 40 years and has thoroughly enjoyed transforming smiles for his patients and their families. He particularly enjoys the oral surgery and prosthodontic component of dentistry. His father (Dr. Walter H. Funke) began the practice in 1928, and Dr. Jim continues to see some of the very same patients and their children today. Dr. Jim attributes a great deal of his success to the relationships that both he and his father have built with their patients over many years. He is also a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, where he has been awarded a Fellowship for completing a rigorous program of continuing education.
